Swans Mating

As I suspected, the warmer weather and longer days has switched on the swans mating mode.

Today was almost identical to the conditions last year when they mated close to the island. I was fortunate to be around when the head dipping and nodding began. Earlier the pen was feeding on minerals and algae from the bottom of the river, the prelude to egg laying.

For those of you who haven't seen the Swan lake dance before, here is a few of today's shots !

I love seeing your swan photos and reading about their day to day activities on your website! We visited Nairn in 2002 from the States and saw wild swans up close for the first time. They are so beautiful! It was a highlight of my trip there. Please keep publishing your blog. It's a wonderful reminder of a wonderful vacation. Thanks!

Well Kay keep looking in, there will always be some updates that will keep you informed of our Swans. It is nice to know that our friends on the other side of the pond still visit and appreciate the old country !
